Race Information

RACE RULES – SCORA Race Rules apply. All paddlers under SCORA and from all visiting crews, including all coaches, escort skippers, guests on escort boats, and any person who accompanies that crew must sign a 2021 SCORA Release of Liability Waiver. It will be up to each club/coaches to adhere to the event protocols for COVID safety at the end of this packet.

CANOE UNLOADING & RIGGING– The Public Boat Launch Ramp is located in Lot 2 – 13477 Fiji Way. Fees can be paid at the kiosk at the entrance to the lot. There will be no attendant onsite so be prepared to pay with credit card. 15 – Vehicles with TRAILERS and 10 VEHICLES only.

PADDLER PARKING – Paddler parking in Boat Launch Lot 2 on Fiji Way or Lot 4 off Mindanao. There is additional parking at the end of Fiji Way near Fisherman’s Village (Lot 1), but it will be a longer walk.

Only Marina Del Rey Canoe Club will be allowed to launch from Mothers Beach

Canoe Exiting and return to Public Boat Ramp

Race Course

Men, Women, Coed will all race together with a staggered start of Women going first, Co-Ed second, and then Open Men.

Triangle course will be approximately 10 to 12 miles and will be determined by race day conditions.
Race will start and finish OUTSIDE of the break wall.

Canoes should return to the boat ramp by entering the South side of the channel only.

COVID Safety Protocols

You are responsible for the following 2021 COVID Safety Protocols!

The health and safety of our members, competitors and staff is our top priority. We will implement
appropriate physical distancing and segregation of clubs. Please familiarize yourself with the following
protocols to properly prepare for this year’s event. These protocols are a part of our permit. It is the
responsibility of coaches to ensure that team members follow these protocols.

  • The race site will not provide any food, beverage, or other vendor services.
  • The race site will not utilize competitor or sponsor tents on the contest perimeter as to eliminate
    congregation
  • All registration must happen online PRIOR to race day. There will be no onsite registration!
  • All staff members will be required to wear masks.
  • COACHES: All participants are encouraged to be vaccinated or tested 72 hours prior to the event.
  • Spectators are not encouraged, and no facilities will be provided for spectators
  • Teams will maintain 6’ distance at minimum between team loading/unloading sites. While loading
    and unloading canoes from trailers, participants will be required to wear masks.
  • Participants will wear masks while rigging/unrigging of canoes on the beach.
  • There will be no awards ceremony!
