Hello from Hanohano Outrigger Canoe Club! We hope that the Spring of 2021 finds you and your outrigger families happy, healthy and ready to get back on the water in 6-man canoes (if you feel safe doing so). You may have heard that Hanohano was able to obtain a  permit for the 2021 Crystal Pier Race. We are happy to say that this is true but the permit we have is very limited: no land event, no trailers, no visiting clubs, only a limited number of  participants from clubs that have their home site on Mission Bay, no exchanges at Crown Point, no equipment set up…. There will be no awards, no t-shirts, no food, no vendors – nothing on land.  We are asking that you please respect our relationship with the city and our future ability to obtain permits by staying in your home areas.

Let’s  celebrate  “Opening Day” for 6-man canoe paddling on Saturday, May 8th by paddling in Avila Beach, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Marina del Rey, Redondo, Newport, Dana Point, Oceanside, Arizona, Nevada, and San Diego Bay. We invite you to share our excitement of getting back on the water and “racing” by sending us a photo of your team/club in the canoes or on the beach at your home site. We will post them on the Crystal Pier Race facebook page.

Thank you for your help in keeping the Ohana alive and keeping us in good standing with the City of San Diego by staying home!
